Mary M. Brand, Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist and the Clinical Director of Alliance Psychological Services. She founded Alliance Psychological Services in 2000 after several years in another private practice. Dr. Brand has been an elementary school teacher and worked as a therapist at three university counseling centers. Dr. Brand got her Bachelor in Education at the University of Nebraska and completed her Master of Education in Counseling at Marquette University. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Brand provides services for individuals (age 12 through all adult), couples and families. She uses a variety of therapeutic approaches based on the needs of the persons encounter. Her background in attachment therapy helps her to look at personality development and patterns of interpersonal relationships by assessing the role of the family of origin on the individual. Understanding how each person’s past affect current function is essential. Therapy then builds on that core awareness to promote new coping skills, nurture emotional resilience and promote healthy lifestyle choices. Dr. Brand is trained on several is trained in several relaxation techniques, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and mood management strategies. She has a strong interest in working with individuals and families recovering from alcoholism and substance dependence.
When not at Alliance Psychological Services, Dr. Brand enjoys spending time with her family, hosting international visitors, teaching Christian education classes and participating in outdoor activities. She is grateful for her wonderful staff and colleagues at Alliance Psychological Services. She’s happy to have the opportunity to grow as she promotes growth in others.
