Jenny Hempen

Jenny Hempen, LPC
Therapist

Jenny Hempen is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Alliance Psychological Services. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for her undergraduate BA in Urban Planning/Global Studies and Duquesne University for her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She specializes in working as a trauma therapist. Although she has experience with many types of trauma, she has a history of working with survivors of sexual assault with a particular focus on adult survivors of childhood trauma. She comes from a history of providing trauma care in settings such as working at a rural domestic violence shelter, working as a court victim-advocate, and working as a therapist at Pittsburgh Action Against Rape. Jenny also has experience working with individuals involved in military, LGBTQIA+, kink, sex work, and ethical non-monogamous (ENM) communities.

Jenny believes that the role of a therapist is to help clients organize their thoughts and explore parts of themselves previously unknown, in a trusted and safe environment. She believes in a therapy approach that is authentic, down-to-earth, and even can have space for a little humor. She is trained in the modalities of Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Outside of work, Jenny loves hiking, baking bread, and reading both good and bad fantasy novels.
